Stop The NC Home Tax

Some state lawmakers want to tax the equity in your home.

Bills are now being considered in the North Carolina General Assembly that would force the sellers of new or existing homes to pay a 1% sales tax.

Go to http://www.itsabadidea.org/ to get all the facts.  Make sure to let your legislator know how you feel.

This tax is every time a property sells begining with a piece of raw land and could be whatever % set by the General Assembly.

 What are your thoughs?

It's hard to believe the state has found something

else to tax, but they have.  I am not in favor of this.

This is a disgrace. We pay enough taxes as it is, and the government is going to keep on until we all are in the poor house. No pun intended.

This is a bad idea.  Many legislators want this tax as a source of revenue but it is a bad tax.  In areas where the turnover is high such as military towns average stay 4 to 5 years and the appreciation of a house is slower than in the coastal and major metropolitan areas.  This tax will eliminate home ownership as an option because who wants to buy a house and lose money if you move in 3 1/2 to 4 years?

I urge you to vote against the proposal to tax people who sell their real estate, a 1% transfer sales tax.  Why dont you propose taxing the buyer this 1% transfer sales tax?  Why dont you let the buyers of these homes, who want more services, pay for their services.  I had to pay for the water and sewer services when I was forced into the city limits!  Why dont you make the illegals, which most of the growth is coming from, pay for their own services?

I don't think we would have this problem if our legislative government had their priorities in order.  Giving the Lottery Commisioner a $6000 raise for doing nothing (sales are down) is really STUPID!  We need to make sure we pay attention next time at the polls and elect people that actually have common sense!

We have stopped buying lottery tickets because of the new tax on gas. Let the state keep it up and they will loose more revenue.

Vote out the encumbent.

Add "None of the above" to all ballet choices in all elections, so I may have my vote counted.

Vote, register to Vote, register your children 18+ and choose "OTHER" and type in "NOTO" None of the above.

We really have no other choice but to fix the system.

We do not need to be penalized again for working hard, saving our money and buying or selling our homes. Property taxes already do that. Instead of making up a new tax they need to do their jobs and get rid of programs that are no longer serving the majority or their original purpose.

I am not in favor of the NC Home Tax.  We pay so many taxes now that we can hardly pay the taxes and other debts that are necessary to live today. I am a homeowner not a realtor and I do not feel it fair to add yet another tax.

What are you doing with the Lottery money?  This is why so many people are in credit card debt. After you take taxes from our salary and we pay taxes on just about eveything we buy there is nothing left. I am tried of being pucked by the  Gas company, electric, water, Banks (High Interest),  property tax, phone tax, ext.  We are being pucked to death. I have had it. You are taking our taxes dollars giving it to people that are not US Citizens, you borrowered from our Social Security and never paid it back and then you tell us there will not be enough money when we retired but you keep taking the money out of our Pay Checks. Heck no I am not in favor of the Home Tax.

I love my country, but i hate my government! Everything goes up except our pay (unless you're a politician). Of course they vote themselves pay raises and so have no monetary problems, but the rest of us have to make due as best we can. Try raising children in todays environment and you quickly run out of money. And now they want a percentage of your equity? Will this help the people? No. What will be accomplished? It's merely another way they can line thier pockets at our expense. We need to streamline our government and reduce all the outrageous waste we are forced to pay for. Sounds like we need a revolution. Count me in.

When we retired from our jobs in 2003 we searched the US for the perfect state to retire in.  In 2004 we relocated from the west coast to Raleigh, NC however, we recently put our home on the market to sell.  We have had it with the taxes but more so - the stupid people who actually come up with these tax ideas!!  Every issue is a fight - the money is placed in a general fund with distribution going everywhere but what we were led to believe it would.  We were shocked to find out how much money the state wants for education while quietly forgetting to mention how many students do not even graduate.  In this time and age - in the US of all places kids more and more are not graduating in this state!!!  Now they propose a tax to sell our homes.  I'm out of here ASAP - it appears that if there is a stupid idea NC will pass it - can't afford to live with others mismanagement!!

NO! NO! NO!  It's time we all took a stand and stopped the continuing fleecing of the working folks.  Many of us can not find jobs any more because of them being moved out of country or illegals are taking the jobs that are left.  NO, they are not only taking "stoop" work jobs, now they are taking others also.  Employers are exploiting the illegals as well, working them for substandard wages and giving them substandard housing (which I agree is better than they left).  Let's quit making special concessions for the illegals they are costly and unnecessary.  Our forefathers wanted to be here and they came willingly and learned the language and were proud to become Americans---now this is a joke, we are expected to hand out whatever is asked for.  STOP THE INSANITY!!!! perhaps we won't need so much money out of the working citizen's pockets.

Our government has always looked for another way to raise revenue for more "Pork"  Since the beginning of an organized "taxation" there have been too many hands in the cookie jar grabbing for their special interest groups.  This will continue as long as we sit back and do nothing.  Its sad when the working people of North Carolina and across our country for that matter never fit into any "Special Interest" groups but simply just keep paying to keep all others afloat with unearned funding and give away programs.  Remember that taxation will be the death of the working people and it appears to be coming sooner than later.

In North Carolina we pay property tax, sales tax, state tax.  Why isn't this enough. Shame on you North Carolina.  No, No, No to this tax. If you did not know it. Starting July 1, 2007 North Carolina is taxing your income from rental property. We pay for the improvements and up keep of our home that is why the property value has gone up, why do we have to give North Carolina any of our profits. They did not give us any of the money to pay for the up keep of our homes.

Did you know that Greensboro, NC and the State of North Carolina has just passed a law to increase our property tax (again, this is almost an every year event), increase the cost of water, increase our property tax on our vehicles and our rental property. Now they also want to tax the money from the sale of our homes.  This is so horriable. We need money to live. They tax the same money over and over again. Why isn't the state tax they take from our pay enought. The people need to have a say about how our money is spend. There is so much stealing and wastefull spending because they do not have to work for it. They just sit back and wait for it to come in.  They do not care.   NO, No, No. What can we do to stop this over taxing.

We pay enough taxes. You pay for a car or anything else and think its paid off and that it is yours but in reality its not.  You don't ever own anything because of constantly paying taxes on it year after year.  Stop these taxes.  Stop making it easy for illegals to stay here and live off our money.  They get more benefits than if you or a family member is disabled and can't work.  I'm tired of not having any money for my family.  We don't even make enough for our family to take a vacation but you can bet the government has several vacation homes and takes several a year.

Stop this insanity!!!!!!!!!
